Club examines a song that went to No. But as if in reaction to their inability to turn Jawbreaker, Seaweed, and Hum into the next Nirvana, labels then started trending more pop-oriented when pushing rock bands. Accordingly, the circumstances around New Radicals becoming a one-hit wonder are rather different than what happened to other groups. I liked touring, it was fun, but I really missed writing songs every day and being creative and being an artist. I felt maybe for me personally, that grind might not be the right fit. I had two records out before the New Radicals record took off… By the time I finally had a hit record, I had already been around it for 12 years, so I was already ready to retire. But this optimism was tempered by the end of the song, which devolved into a very specific, deliberate critique of oppressive forces. To allude to all that stuff in a pop song was, in retrospect, a naively crazy proposition. So that was some of what I idealized and thought would be more present in my life as an artist.
The band centered on frontman Gregg Alexander , who wrote and produced all of their songs. The band's only other permanent member was keyboardist and percussionist Danielle Brisebois. New Radicals Lyrics. Wake up kids We've got the dreamer's disease Age 14 We got you down on your knees So polite, We're busy still saying please Frienemies, Who when you're down ain't your friend Every night We smash their Mercedes-Benz First we run And then we laugh 'til we cry [Pre-chorus:] But when the night is falling You cannot find the light, light You feel your dreams are dying Hold tight [Chorus:] You've got the music in you Don't let go You've got the music in you One dance left This world is gonna pull through Don't give up You've got a reason to live Can't forget We only get what we give I'm comin' home baby You're tops, give it to me now Four A. Don't let go One dance left [Unsaid lyrics from liner] Championed by a soulless media misleading People unaware they're bleeding No one with a brain is believing It's so sad you lost the meaning Never knew it anyway Human natures so predictable I'm a fool to do your dirty work whoa, whoa.
